Lucas Calzada
Actor | Writer
Lucas Calzada is a queer, second-generation Latino actor and writer. Working in both the worlds of comedy and drama, he is best known for his performances on Grey’s Anatomy, Abbott Elementary, 9-1-1, Sugar, and The Neighborhood.
Lucas is a classically trained actor, having received an MFA from FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training in Sarasota, FL. For undergrad, he received a BA from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Over the years, Lucas has studied performance and writing at notable institutions such as Upright Citizens Brigade, Second City Hollywood, The Pack Theatre, iO West, The Writing Pad, and UCLA Writers’ Extension Program.
As a teenager, Lucas began his acting journey in youth theatre, drawn to the strong sense of community, inclusion, and play. As he grew older, and after his formal studies, he ventured into the professional regional theatre market. He built a reputation for bringing intelligence, wit, heart, and humor to roles spanning the classical and contemporary repertoire, sharpening a unique point of view based on supple, exciting interpretations of the text. Based in Los Angeles, he now works primarily in film and television, bringing that same unique perspective.
Born and raised in Alaska, Lucas has a love of the outdoors. He can frequently be seen exploring the trails and neighborhoods in whatever city he is in at the moment. He also loves to read, and has way too many books on his nightstand.
